Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Madison Hintze
Today, President Abraham Lincoln gave a speech in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania that will long be remembered. “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Lincoln was dedicating a cemetery to the brave men that fought in the Civil War. “It’s humbling to consider all the sacrifices that have been made and it’s humbling to be the leader of this great nation at this time.” Said Lincoln. Lincoln also said that the end of the civil war is in sight, his estimate was within the coming weeks.
In Lincoln’s speech he stated that we, as a people, cannot consecrate, or hollow the land where many brave men lay, but that they have done that on their own, with their honor.
What was said today can be forgotten. What was done in this war cannot be. It is the duty of the living, those that have been left behind to keep this nation together. We must increase devotion so that these men did not die in vain.

I think that you did a good job of putting the article together. One thing I would change is that you mentioned in consecutive paragraphs that the speech was given in Gettysburg, and it'd probably only need to be mentioned once. It also looked like after one quote you had a period instead of a comma, but those are small errors.
I liked your article, I thought you did a very good job of mixing in quotes from the speech and from the interview. Good job on this one.
I like the way that you incorporated the speech into the body of your news story
Well Madison that was just a dandy little article you wrote up. In fact I put my hand over my heart as I read it. One little thing you could do is make sure you cite who you are quoting in the first paragraph, and when you quote Lincoln specify if what you are writing was in his speech or in the press conference afterwards. Why do you always get so many comments? So, thats my comment. Stay classy!
I think that you could have eased into that first quote with a connecting sentence. I would also avoid little things like "Said Lincoln. Lincoln also..."
I liked that you included a link to a full copy of the speech.
Good job on this story. I wasn't in class on this day, so I'm not exactly sure what the requirements were, but it seemed to flow well and I liked that you included a link to the actual speech.
You were there for this speech? I find that hard to believe. Really?
